Dolly Parton’s 5-Ingredient Casserole Easy enough for those days when you’re workin’ 9 to 5.

This isn’t the first Dolly Parton recipe we’ve tried and loved and it probably won’t be the last. It turns out the Queen of Country is not just an accomplished songwriter, singer, actress, and philanthropist… she’s also an incredible cook. This 5-Ingredient Casserole proves just that. It’s simple, but it’s also the kind of creamy and comforting casserole you can turn to any day of the week when you need a reliable crowd-pleaser to serve for dinner. Dolly truly does it all!

What Ingredients Do You Need for Dolly Parton’s 5-Ingredient Casserole?

It really is just five things! You’ll need:

Cooked and shredded chicken. A rotisserie chicken works well here.

A can of cream of chicken soup. (A casserole classic.)

Sour cream.

Cheddar cheese.

Butter crackers. (Think Ritz.)

That’s it!

How Do You Make Dolly Parton’s 5-Ingredient Casserole?

I don’t know that I’ve ever made another casserole that’s this easy. If you can stir and pop a dish in the oven, you can make this.

First up, the chicken. You want three cups of chicken, which is about what comes off of a rotisserie chicken. Otherwise, that’s about a pound of boneless skinless chicken breasts. Either way, a great use for leftovers!

Shred that chicken up, then mix it with the cream of chicken soup and sour cream. Spread that mixture into the bottom of a small baking dish, then top it with half of the cheese.

You probably already guessed this but the rest of the chicken mixture goes on top of that followed by the rest of the cheese. And then? Well, then, it’s those crackers, crushed into crumbs and sprinkled over the top.

After 30 minutes in the oven it’ll be bubbly with melty cheese and a delightfully crisp and golden cracker crumb topping. I think this works well over rice or pasta, but if you’re feeling so inclined, you could experiment with mixing some egg noodles right into the bake.
