Dolly Parton, renowned for her glamorous public image, reveals that she enjoys sprucing up at home as well, especially for her husband of 57 years, Carl Dean. During a 2022 interview, Parton shared, “I like to dress up for Carl. Every day, I put on some makeup and fix my hair because I think, ‘Well, the whole world sees me all dressed up.’ I’m not just gonna go home and flop on him.”
Having been married for nearly six decades, Parton and Dean have experienced every facet of each other. Despite this, the singer emphasizes that she maintains her beauty routine for her own satisfaction as much as for her husband’s. “He would love me either way, but I want to look the best I can,” Parton explains. When asked if this routine is her secret to a lasting marriage, she responded, “Well, I think it helps!” adding with a chuckle, “Nobody wants to make out with a slouch. I suppose keeping things interesting and spicy helps.”
In addition to her personal life, Parton continues to keep her career “spicy” and dynamic. In November, she will release her first rock album, Rock Star, featuring contributions from a host of genre legends. Parton, who was recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, debuted the album’s first track, “World on Fire,” while co-hosting the 2023 ACM Awards with Garth Brooks.
